If you’ve been dreaming lately of fresh vegetables for tossing in salads, frying in a stir fry or using to decorate some delicious sandwiches, those dreams will soon be reality. The farmers markets in Minneapolis have all either started or will be soon, and I can’t wait to get out and start shopping for fresh flowers and those delicious, locally grown fruits and vegetables.

There are several Minneapolis farmers markets to explore. The North Lyndale market at 312 East Lyndale Ave. North has been open on Saturdays for some time, and even though we’re not in season yet for the fruits and vegetables, I still like to go for the meat and poultry vendors. At last, spring has arrived, and with it the ability to use your bike to take you where you want to go again! You’ve probably already seen swarms of bike riders using the hundreds of Twin Cities bike trails marked throughout the metro and surrounding suburbs. It’s a popular activity in the metro area, so popular, in fact, that we compete with Portland, Ore., on an annual basis to be named the best city for cycling.

Minneapolis and St. Paul residents use the bike trails for many reasons. Some choose to keep their car parked at home and skip public transportation in favor of riding their bike to work. Others ride for recreational and sight-seeing reasons, using the slower mode of transportation to really get out and experience the area.
