The city of Minneapolis is known as a vibrant community, but the smaller neighborhoods within the city limits have very unique personalities. Those who are looking to buy a single-family home in a Minneapolis neighborhood will want to research which neighborhoods best match their lifestyle. This is where we can help, as we grew up here and now are raising our families in these very neighborhoods.

There are dozens of Minneapolis neighborhoods - too many to mention individually. Here is a brief summary of some of the larger areas, and some of the features that attract people to buy a home in them:

Longfellow: Located in South Minneapolis, this neighborhood is known for unique and delicious dining and entertainment establishments. It’s connected to the Greenway trail system and the light rail, and has celebrated artists during the annual League of Longfellow Artist (LoLa) Art Crawl.

Powderhorn: This neighborhood, made up of many smaller named communities, is a great place to raise a family, as many of the homes have children, and a majority of residents work in Minneapolis. Powderhorn Lake is the main feature of the area, and is used year-round by residents.

Kingfield: A close-knit neighborhood best describes Kingfield, located south of the city. The community often has family-run businesses clustered on corners, such as restaurants and bakeries that have been around since the early 1900s, and single-family homes tucked in between.

Calhoun Isles: Young professionals and corporate executives alike flock to this large neighborhood, which includes the popular Uptown business district. Calhoun and Lake of the Isles are popular waterways that provide plenty of year-round recreation opportunities. Families and individuals looking for single-family housing or lofts and condos will find this area to be very trendy.

Northeast: Often called “Old St. Anthony,” this neighborhood is becoming a very hip location, supporting many local bands and art galleries. The community has worked hard to revitalize the historical structures and architecture into beautiful loft and condo living.
